In what was anticipated by many to be the most exciting game of the regular season, the Calais Blue Devils did not let fans down as they faced the Lee Academy Pandas at Lee in the first game of the 2007-08 season. At the end of the first quarter, Calais was down 9-17, making many spectators nervous that the 44-0 devils may be handed their first loss in three years. As the teams went into the locker rooms at halftime, the score was closer, 25-30, but Lee was able to hold its lead. In the third quarter, the devils began to rally back, coming within 4 points, 39-43. But it was the fourth quarter that was the most exciting of all, in which Calais played like the champions they are and outscored the pandas 23-13. They finished the game with a 62-56 victory, improving their record to 45-0. Unconfirmed reports place former Calais superstar Brandon Tomah, now a Lee Academy Prep School student, at the game yelling "45 and 0!" afterwards.

Official stats include Cal Shorey with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Cam Shorey with 11 points, Sam Bell with 11 points, Rod Tirrell with 15 points, Nathan O'Neill with 4 points, and Jordan Leeman finishing off with 4 points. The Calais junior varsity team also won their first game of the season, 54-50.

Today at Lee, the lady blue devils will face the very talented lady pandas in a contest which will surely be full of excitement. For all the latest news and updates, check back at CalaisSchools.org.
