Harlem Rockets Visit CHS
There were laughs, slam dunks, and lots of great basketball on April 3rd, when the Harlem Rockets visited CHS to play against the boys' basketball team. Hundreds of people came to the high school gymnasium to support the event, which raised funds for JMG and the CHS athletic boosters. Joining the boys' basketball team were former players Brandon Tomah and Robbie Rogers.
Ricky "7-Footer" Lopez and
Chris "The Chicken" Turnquest also visited CHS during the school day to provide a preview of the evening's entertainment. With a game of "You Are Out" featuring teachers, a few slam dunks, and lots of jokes, the two players pumped the school up for the game. At the conclusion of the program, 7-Footer told students about the importance of studying hard, staying off drugs, and treating everyone with respect. He referred to Kevin "Showboat" Jackson, the team's lead comedian, who grew up in New York City and never got involved in drugs or other bad activities.
