Sports
Athletics is a viable component of the educational experience of CHS students. Athletic activities provide students with invaluable opportunities to develop sportsmanship, build character, perfect teamwork, and win or lose graciously. Students may select from a wide variety of sports. Students may elect to try out for any or all teams; to be a team manager; or an avid fan.
Our coaches, athletes, faculty, staff, students, and administration adhere to our sportsmanship statement:
“The Calais School Committee encourages all members of the community to attend the athletic contests and extracurricular events involving our Calais High School students. If you choose to attend one of our activities, we ask that each spectator act in a courteous and respectful manner toward the players, coaches, game officials, and other spectators. Athletics and extracurricular activities are an important extension of our educational programs and we judge the true success of these programs, not in terms of a win or loss, but on the basis of the learning that takes place in a competitive environment.”
