Wilkinson Wins!!!
2008 EMASC Conference to be Held in Milo
After handing out candy canes and stickers, holding up posters, and delivering an amazing speech, the CHS Student Council is proud to announce that CHS sophomore class president Honor Wilkinson has been elected to serve as high school representative on the Eastern Maine Association of Student Councils' executive board. Despite competition from Brewer High School and Penquis Valley High School for the position, Wilkinson won with over 50% of the votes on Tuesday, as the council travelled to the Brewer Auditorium for the 2007 Eastern Region conference. The 2007-08 EMASC president was elected from Penquis Valley High School in Milo, which will host the 2008 regional conference.
At the conference, magician and motivational speaker Bruce Johnson performed, then council members attended student-run workshops. Airelle Thomas, Honor Wilkinson, and David Lumbert ran a very successful workshop, titled Leadership on your Feet. The workshop asked attendees to develop solutions for unforeseen problems. Other workshops included Red Ribbon Week, Running a Successful Campaign. The Mailman, and Running for Jr. High Representative. Swap shops were also held, in which free discussion of school-related issues took place.
Congratulations to Honor Wilkinson and special thanks to the outgoing EMASC executive board, including Calais' Toni Cole, who put on an amazing conference!
