Adventure Race 2008 |
|---|
The 3rd Annual Downeast Adventure Race was Saturday May 3, 2008. Starting at 10:00 am.
Five of our very own Calais High School students participated in the amazing race, and competed strongly, and with
determination. Scott Carpenter, Lauren Remington, Spencer McCormick, Ryan Cavanaugh, and
Chealsea Karvia, all students of CHS, collaborated to form an athletically equipped team to
take a chance to win, known as the Blue Devils. Each of the students played an important role in the race. Scott
Carpenter Mountain Biked 16 miles. The intended 3.6 mile whitewater canoeing relay was done by Ryan
Cavanaugh, but was changed in course. Resulting in Ryan, in a canoe, and Spencer, in a kayak, splitting the
2.9 mile kayak course on the St. Croix River. Lauren Remington quickly ran 2.3 miles, while the last half of the
2.9 miles were Sea Kayaked by Spencer McCormick. Chelsea Karvia played the support person role, making sure to be there when needed.
~~The Adventure Race was a successful experience for the Blue Devil team, and great thanks go
out to Mr. McCormick,Mr. Thompson, and The Calais Cadet Corps for providing support to the team.~~
