It was truly an immense privilege to witness Lynn Mitchell lead a powerful march with her vibrant singing and drumming with her class. We are incredibly fortunate to have Lynn in our community, where she imparts to her Passamaquoddy students and the entire student body the vital lesson of remembrance.
This event serves to honor the children who did not return home from residential schools and to pay tribute to the Survivors, their families, and communities.
Wearing an orange shirt stands as a poignant symbol of the cultural loss, suppression of freedom, and diminished self-esteem endured by countless Indigenous children in these institutions.
