Kudos to Ashaleigh Sulkowski Congratulations to Ashaleigh Sulkowski for securing a commendable third place in the Girls State Wrestling Championship in Belfast today. Her performance has qualified her to compete at the New England Championship in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 7th! She stands out as the only female wrestler from Washington County to earn a medal at the Girls State Championship. We are so proud of her achievements.

During the school break, our athletes remain active. The boys' basketball team is set to face Caribou today at 5:30 PM in Bangor. Meanwhile, our wrestler, Ashaliegh Sulkowski will compete at state in Belfast. She holds the 2nd seed in a bracket of 21 competitors. Best of luck to Ashley and the boys' team. Go Big Blue!

The Calais Jr. High cheer team dazzled at the 3rd Annual Crown Championship, claiming the Division Championship title and surprising everyone by winning GRAND CHAMPS!! Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade girls for their victory in the Washington County Championship at Narraguagus High School today. A caravan will begin at 8:45, starting at the high school and heading to Calais Elementary School. It's wonderful to see everyone come together to support and celebrate these girls.

Congratulations to our girls junior high basketball team who won the 2026 Eastern Washington County championship with a thrilling 39-34 win over a good Machias team. These girls will now play for the County Championship in Narraguagus. Opponent and game time to be determined.

We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the wrestling team for an outstanding season. Your dedication, perseverance, and relentless effort have been truly remarkable. Although the season may not have concluded as some had hoped, Calais High School stands proudly behind each and every one of you. A special shoutout to Chase Scott for an impressive third-place finish at regionals—your determination has earned you a spot at the state competition. We are equally proud of Jack and Ashley for securing a strong fifth place, showcasing strength and resilience throughout the season. The entire school community applauds your hard work and commitment, and we couldn't be prouder of the spirit you've shown. Well done, team!

Announcement: Canceled Basketball Game Attention everyone! The boys' basketball game between Calais High School and Penobscot Valley High School, originally scheduled for Monday, has been canceled. However, the game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 27th. JV game: 5:00 PM Varsity game: 6:30 PM Make sure to mark your calendars and come out to support the teams! We look forward to seeing you there!

A huge congratulations to Chase Scott for clinching the title of Penobscot Valley Conference Champion! What an incredible achievement for this talented wrestler! But the excitement doesn’t stop there Jack Lanier delivered an outstanding performance, securing an impressive 3rd place finish, showcasing his determination and skill on the mat. Not to be outdone, both Brad Walton and Ashley Sulkowski fought hard and earned well-deserved 4th place finishes, proving their strength and perseverance in a highly competitive field. What a phenomenal showing by these athletes! Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, and they’ve made their school proud. The future looks bright for Calais wrestling with this kind of talent leading the way! Keep up the amazing work!

Beyond proud of these athletes! After navigating many challenges and changes throughout the season, they earned an impressive 6th-place finish at PVCs. There’s always room to improve, and I’m confident they’ll continue to work hard as they fight for a spot at States. Up next—Regionals in Sanford! Today, (1/22) the CSD will have a 2 hour delay. Unfortunately, the high school mid terms start time for today will be delayed resulting in a 12:30pm dismissal time at the HIGH SCHOOL ONLY instead of the scheduled 11am dismissal. All other schools will remain at regular dismissal time.
