Announcement of Sporting Event Results
Apologies for the delayed update. I would like to share the outcomes of yesterday's sporting events.
The girls’ soccer team traveled to Eastport. They put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short.

In contrast, the Calais High School boys’ soccer team hosted Searsport for a home game. Brayden Ellsmore opened the scoring, followed by goals from Brock Collins, Thiago Mendez, and Alex Counts. The final score was a solid 4-0 victory for the Calais Blue Devils.

The golf team competed against Narraguagus and Woodland, with Jacob Footer earning the title of medalist by scoring a remarkable 35.

Our volleyball team headed to Machias to face the Bulldogs. The JV Volleyball team secured a win, and the Varsity match was thrilling, with the Blue Devils rallying to win three consecutive sets, clinching the victory.

Congratulations to all teams! Go Big Blue

🎉 A huge Blue Devil congratulations to Maggie O'Rourke! 🎉

Not only has Maggie been accepted into her top-choice school, the University of Maine, but also into its highly competitive Nursing Program! 🩺

Even more impressive? Maggie didn’t even need to apply — she was offered Direct Admission thanks to her outstanding performance in the many UMaine Early College courses she has taken throughout high school. Her hard work has truly paid off!

To top it all off, Maggie was also awarded a $9,000 per year merit scholarship! 💰🎓

We are so proud of you, Maggie!

We’re so proud to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our students this summer — including Briana Lyons, who attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA through the Unobskey Scholars Program!

Briana made the most of this incredible opportunity. She stepped out of her comfort zone, explored new subjects (marine biology was her favorite!), visited colleges across New England, and attended college fairs — all while growing more confident and excited about her future. Briana shared these photos with us that she took during her time at Phillips.

📣 Are you a 10th or 11th grade student interested in applying for this life-changing experience? Join the informational session on October 24th during Blue Devil Block to learn how you can become a Unobskey Scholar too!

One of CHS's student mentees, Olivia Turner, is an aspiring teacher who is already taking on leadership responsibilities in the art classroom. She helps by taking attendance, working with students during activities, and assisting with classroom organization. She has also been developing bulletin boards, like this one, to showcase staff support for students and create a welcoming environment. Through these experiences, she is building the skills and confidence needed for her future career in education.

On Thursday September 11th, we will have a visit from College Horizons, a college-preparation summer program for Native American students. This program helps students prepare for their senior year in high school by helping them start the college application process and giving them the opportunity to attend college fairs and visit different colleges in New England. The program will take place at Dartmouth College in the summer of 2026, where students will stay on campus. The best part is that this program is FREE! Students are only expected to pay for transportation to and from Dartmouth.

Any of our 10th or 11th grade Native American students who are interested in learning more, please come see Mrs. Pike to sign up for Thursday’s visit!

Today at 6 am the CHS Class of 2026 held their Senior Sunrise Celebration. This year, they went to watch the sun come up on the beach at Devils Head. Unfortunately, the fog on the water did not make for a great sunrise, but the kids had fun sharing the experience.
