I would like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers who assisted at today's cross country race at Moosehorn. It was an outstanding event, featuring over 50 runners. The Blue Devils performed awesome, achieving two top ten finishes: Blake Bohannon placed fourth, and Madeline DelMonaco finished sixth.
Additionally, the Lady Blue Devils traveled to Woodland today to compete against the Dragons and secured their first win of the season with a score of 3-2, thanks to goals from Sarah Wentworth and Lexi Bowen.

Art has the power to move people because of the way it uses the building blocks of creativity—the elements of line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space. When these are brought together with the principles of balance, contrast, rhythm, unity, emphasis, and movement, they create artworks that can tell stories, spark emotions, and connect us to one another. By learning and practicing these tools, you gain the ability not only to make something visually strong, but also to share your own voice and ideas in a way that can truly touch others. Students at CMHS shine in art classes like 7th/8th Exploratory, Art I, Art II, Ceramics and Open Studio!

Today marks Constitution Day, a significant occasion commemorating the 238th anniversary of the United States Constitution.
Mr. Watts and Mrs. Cummings took the opportunity to honor this important day by celebrating with the Senior and Junior government classes. They organized a gathering that included delicious cake, symbolizing the celebration of our nation's foundational document.
Mr. Watts added an extra touch of enthusiasm by dressing up, showcasing his commitment to engaging students in the spirit of the day. The Constitution, which was adopted on September 17, 1787, serves as the cornerstone of American democracy, outlining the framework of our government and the rights of citizens.
This anniversary is not just a celebration of the document itself, but also a time to reflect on its enduring impact on our society. It reminds us of the principles of liberty, justice, and the rule of law that guide our nation.
Thank you, Mr. Watts and Mrs. Cummings, for creating this engaging opportunity for our students.

🌟 Student Spotlight: Sa Li’s Incredible Summer Adventures! 🌟
This summer, one of our seniors, Sa Li, took part in not one, but two incredible programs that took her across the country — and beyond!
First, Sa was selected to join the Youth Tour through Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative, where she had the opportunity to explore Washington, D.C. alongside students from all across the U.S. From visiting national monuments to connecting with peers from different states, it was an unforgettable experience in our nation's capital!
But her journey didn’t stop there.
Sa was also accepted into the prestigious Student Diplomacy Corps program, where she traveled to Haida Gwaii in British Columbia, Canada.
During her month-long stay, Sa:
🛶 Went sea kayaking along the coast
🐋 Spotted orcas while sailing the famous Inside Passage
🌲 Explored ancient rainforests and UNESCO heritage sites
🏞️ Overnighted in a traditional longhouse in Gwaii Haanas National Park
🌍 Learned about Indigenous environmental stewardship and biodiversity
🌆 Concluded her journey in Vancouver, reflecting on her unforgettable summer
We’re incredibly proud of Sa for representing our school with curiosity, courage, and a global mindset.
Three CHS students have now been selected for this life-changing opportunity, traveling from Canada, to Spain, to Chile, and we’d love to see even more join in the future! If you’re a 10th or 11th grader, keep an eye out this winter for more information on how to apply for the Student Diplomacy Corps. 🌍✈️

Please see post below from St. Croix Regional Technical Center. We are so proud of these seniors who have been accepted to the University of Maine at Farmington because of their dedication in multiple early college courses and the Early Childhood program at SCRTC!
🌟 Student Spotlight! 🌟
Pictured above are Addison Ellsmore (4-year CTE student), Cheyenne Kinney (4-year CTE student), and Alexis Bowen (5-year CTE student) — three outstanding young women who have dedicated the past three years to our Early Childhood program. During that time, they’ve not only gained valuable hands-on experience in our CTE program, but they’ve also worked hard to earn early college credits through multiple colleges. 👩🏫📚✨
We are beyond proud to share that their dedication has now been recognized by the University of Maine at Farmington! 🎉 These young women have been admitted to UMF through the Early College program. That means they get to skip the essay and recommendation process because their hard work in the classroom has already earned them a place in the Fall 2026 class. 💙
Please join us in congratulating Addison, Cheyenne, and Alexis on this amazing accomplishment! We couldn’t be prouder of all you’ve achieved. 💐👏❤️

Apologies for the delayed update. I would like to share the outcomes of yesterday's sporting events.

In contrast, the Calais High School boys’ soccer team hosted Searsport for a home game. Brayden Ellsmore opened the scoring, followed by goals from Brock Collins, Thiago Mendez, and Alex Counts. The final score was a solid 4-0 victory for the Calais Blue Devils.
The golf team competed against Narraguagus and Woodland, with Jacob Footer earning the title of medalist by scoring a remarkable 35.
Our volleyball team headed to Machias to face the Bulldogs. The JV Volleyball team secured a win, and the Varsity match was thrilling, with the Blue Devils rallying to win three consecutive sets, clinching the victory.

🎉 A huge Blue Devil congratulations to Maggie O'Rourke! 🎉
Not only has Maggie been accepted into her top-choice school, the University of Maine, but also into its highly competitive Nursing Program! 🩺
Even more impressive? Maggie didn’t even need to apply — she was offered Direct Admission thanks to her outstanding performance in the many UMaine Early College courses she has taken throughout high school. Her hard work has truly paid off!
To top it all off, Maggie was also awarded a $9,000 per year merit scholarship! 💰🎓
We are so proud of you, Maggie!

We’re so proud to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our students this summer — including Briana Lyons, who attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA through the Unobskey Scholars Program!
Briana made the most of this incredible opportunity. She stepped out of her comfort zone, explored new subjects (marine biology was her favorite!), visited colleges across New England, and attended college fairs — all while growing more confident and excited about her future. Briana shared these photos with us that she took during her time at Phillips.
📣 Are you a 10th or 11th grade student interested in applying for this life-changing experience? Join the informational session on October 24th during Blue Devil Block to learn how you can become a Unobskey Scholar too!

One of CHS's student mentees, Olivia Turner, is an aspiring teacher who is already taking on leadership responsibilities in the art classroom. She helps by taking attendance, working with students during activities, and assisting with classroom organization. She has also been developing bulletin boards, like this one, to showcase staff support for students and create a welcoming environment. Through these experiences, she is building the skills and confidence needed for her future career in education.

On Thursday September 11th, we will have a visit from College Horizons, a college-preparation summer program for Native American students. This program helps students prepare for their senior year in high school by helping them start the college application process and giving them the opportunity to attend college fairs and visit different colleges in New England. The program will take place at Dartmouth College in the summer of 2026, where students will stay on campus. The best part is that this program is FREE! Students are only expected to pay for transportation to and from Dartmouth.
Any of our 10th or 11th grade Native American students who are interested in learning more, please come see Mrs. Pike to sign up for Thursday’s visit!

Today at 6 am the CHS Class of 2026 held their Senior Sunrise Celebration. This year, they went to watch the sun come up on the beach at Devils Head. Unfortunately, the fog on the water did not make for a great sunrise, but the kids had fun sharing the experience.
