Our 7th Grade Trades Exploratory students are wrapping up an incredible skateboard project!

Throughout this project, students experienced a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, including measuring, layout, assembly, tool use, problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork. From start to finish, they took pride in creating something they could truly call their own.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Duffy for the outstanding job he has done guiding these students through the process. His patience, knowledge, and dedication helped make this project both educational and fun.

It’s always exciting to see students engaged in learning by doing, building confidence while developing practical skills that can serve them well in the future.

Great work, everyone! We are proud of what you accomplished! 🛹🔨👏

🏆🔧✏️ Celebrating Our National SkillsUSA Competitors! ✏️🔧🏆

We are incredibly proud of our students who represented Maine at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta! A big shout-out also to Welding Instructor Ryan Johnson and Business Studies Instructor Robyn Leighton

After earning Gold Medals at the Maine SkillsUSA Championships, Destiny Holmes advanced to nationals in Welding Sculpture, and Sa Li advanced in Pin Design. Competing against some of the most talented students from across the country is a remarkable achievement in itself.

While they did not place at the national level this year, they returned home as winners in every sense of the word. They demonstrated dedication, skill, professionalism, and the courage to compete on a national stage while proudly representing Maine and our school community. Both students also earned Skill Points for meeting the national standards in their competitions.

Experiences like these build confidence, leadership, career skills, and lifelong memories. We could not be more proud of their accomplishments and the hard work that brought them this far.

Please join us in congratulating Destiny Holmes and Sa Li on an outstanding year and for representing Maine with excellence! 🇺🇸💙💛

🌭☀️ What a great day at SCRTC!

Yesterday, students and staff enjoyed our annual End-of-Year BBQ filled with good food, laughter, and plenty of school spirit. One of the highlights of the day was recognizing our seniors and raffling off seven prize baskets as a small way to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments throughout their time at SCRTC.

As we head into the final weeks of the school year, we are proud of all our students for their dedication, growth, and achievements. Thank you to everyone who helped make today's event a success!

Congratulations to our raffle winners, and thank you to all who joined us for a fun afternoon together. Enjoy the photos! 🎉

📣 Calling All Early Childhood Occupations Students & Families! 📣

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Saint Croix Regional Technical Center would like to remind our students, staff, and community of the importance of emotional wellness, connection, and self-care.

Mental health support and healing can look different for everyone. For some, it may be time spent with family or friends, being outdoors, creating art or music, exercising, talking with someone they trust, or connecting with animals and nature. Even quiet moments of reflection and connection can have a powerful impact on overall well-being.

Horses, in particular, are often recognized for their ability to encourage calm, confidence, trust, patience, and emotional awareness. Experiences with animals and nature can provide comfort, grounding, and connection in meaningful ways.

At SCRTC, we believe in supporting the whole student and creating a community where kindness, compassion, and connection matter.

You are important. Your mental health matters. And you are never alone. 💜

May 1st is Principal & Director Appreciation Day!

Today, we are especially proud to celebrate one of our own at St. Croix Regional Technical Center.

Please join us in congratulating Stanley Sluzenski on being named the recipient of the SkillsUSA Maine Cornerstone Award.

The Cornerstone Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding support for Career and Technical Education and the SkillsUSA mission champions who help students grow, lead, and succeed.

One of the most powerful parts of his recognition said it best:

A cornerstone is set quietly, often long before anyone sees the finished structure. It carries weight. It holds things together. And long after others step onto the job site, it remains steady, dependable, and essential.

That description perfectly reflects Mr. Sluzenski’s impact.

Since 2000, he has mentored, coached, and championed students through every stage of competition and leadership. From guiding state medalists as a Building Trades instructor, to supporting his own children through SkillsUSA, to now leading as a director his commitment has never wavered.

This work has never been about medals. It has always been about growth, opportunity, and transformation.

As a leader, he continues to expand that impact advocating for CTE programs, strengthening connections across Maine, and ensuring students have access to meaningful, life-changing experiences.

Today, we celebrate not just an award but the foundation he has built.

Congratulations, Stanley and thank you for being a cornerstone for our students, our staff, and our entire CTE community.

Yesterday, Mrs. Remington and her Early Childhood Occupation students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Maine State House, and it was a day they won’t forget!

They started the day by being greeted by Jesse Hargrove, President of the Maine Education Association, who welcomed and guided them through the building. As it was many of their first times visiting the State House, this tour made the experience even more meaningful and memorable. They were also greeted by Senator Moore and Eliza, who continued the tour, showing them where their reserved seats were and even took the time to get photos.

Mrs. Remington was honored with a Legislative Sentiment in recognition of receiving the Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence from the National Education Association Foundation. This special recognition was sponsored by Senator Moore and co-sponsored by Representative Mingo, highlighting her impact and dedication to education.

A Legislative Sentiment is a formal, bipartisan recognition by the Maine Legislature that celebrates meaningful accomplishments and service and Mrs. Remington was recognized in front of both the House and the Senate.

Students were able to witness this powerful moment firsthand. They watched as Mrs. Remington received a standing ovation in the House, then joined the Senate, where not only were her accomplishments read aloud, but the students’ names were also listed and recognized. What an unforgettable experience to see their teacher and themselves celebrated at the state level!

Beyond the recognition, students also gained a deeper understanding of how our state government works and had the opportunity to see it in action. They even had the chance to have conversations with several legislators about their Early Childhood Occupations program.

A big thank you to Senator Moore and Representative Mingo for making this experience possible. We are so grateful for your support of education and our students! And a big thank you to our students who showed up to support their teacher and for representing St Croix Regional Technical Center so well. We are so proud of you!

Proud to share the Early Childhood students at St. Croix Regional Technical Center just wrapped up an incredible 5-week training! 💛

This 15-hour interactive training focused on supporting children in situations of challenging behavior through an inclusive and developmentally appropriate lens. Students explored current research, real-world articles, and best practices while building practical strategies they can use in early childhood settings.

Throughout the training, students deepened their understanding of:
✨ The many factors that contribute to challenging behavior
✨ How to prevent, respond to, and reflect on behavioral situations
✨ The importance of language, environment, and relationships
✨ Supporting diverse learners in inclusive care and education settings

A key focus of this work was recognizing that all children deserve access, participation, and support. Too often, children experiencing challenges are excluded or lack the resources they need to be successful. Our students are learning how to create environments where every child feels valued, included, and capable.

So proud of the growth, compassion, and professionalism these future educators continue to demonstrate. They are truly making a difference now and in the future. 🌟 A big thank you to Maine Roads To Quality for offering these training to our students and a thank you to Mrs. Remington for getting certified to teach them.

In one photo we have Jenna Cline, Alexis Bowen, and Cheyenne Kinney, missing from this group is Addison Ellsmore.

In the second photo we have Star Huckins, Caidence Waycott, Bella Bishop, Yvonne Cook, and Lainey Ellsmore

Big milestone for our Early Childhood Education students today! 🎉

Students logged on for their first Live Day of the Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Training & Certificate Program through Woodfords Family Services.

Before reaching this point, students completed 12 online modules, Child & Adult CPR/First Aid certification, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.

This state-recognized credential prepares students to support children receiving behavioral health services in schools, homes, and community programs across Maine. Even more exciting, once earned, the BHP certificate can be used anywhere in the State of Maine and never expires.

We are incredibly thankful to Woodfords Family Services for providing this opportunity for our Career and Technical Education students to earn meaningful, industry-recognized credentials while still in high school.

So proud of the dedication our students are showing as they prepare to make a difference for children and families in our communities. 💙
